My Evening At The Tom Brokaw Appearance

For my birthday tonight my mother and I went to see Tom Brokaw speak at Edison State Colleges, Barbara B. Mann Hall.

I always considered Mr. Brokaw a man of high intelegence, excellent moral character and a man who loves his country and serving the people within it. I was right. He gave a magnificent show and regailed us with stories from his past and of our nations finest and darkest moments. My favorite stories were those pertaining to his coverage during the civil rights movement.

But what surprised me, was his sense of humor. The audience was able to associate with his stories and historical views, as well as laugh heartily at his antics about being a celebrity.

I was so honored to have been able to attend this evening. I will not soon forget how inspiring it was to be in this mans presence.

I can't stand his voice.. or the cadence of his speech... or something.

I remember watching him report on the Berlin Wall the night it came down, the Challenger, the Oklahoma City bombings... All of it. I guess I've been an NBC girl since childhood. It was sooooooo cool being there tonight!

I would have found spending my birthday at a Tom Brokaw forum to be incredibly boring, but I'm glad you had a good time.
